Controller

ABS, an award-winning company in Warwick, RI, is seeking an experienced and motivated Controller to join our leadership team in an in-office, full-time role.

About the role

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations, serve as a key member of the leadership team, and report directly to the President/CEO. This position ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, supports strategic decision-making, and leads a team of four accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger functions
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to leadership
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four accounting professionals
• Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Progressive accounting and financial management experience
• Prior leadership or management experience preferred
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• CPA designation is welcome but not required
• Industry experience in office technology, service, distribution, or related industries is helpful but not required
