Job Overview
Atlantic Group is hiring a Controller in Bethesda, MD for a client's growing multi-entity organization. This leadership role supports corporate accounting, financial reporting, consolidations, and finance operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and other core accounting functions while managing daily finance operations.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, prepare consolidated financial statements, and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements.
- Drive ERP implementation and system optimization initiatives while standardizing accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and improving operational efficiency.
- Support acquisitions by assisting with purchase accounting, financial integrations, and the standardization of accounting policies across newly acquired entities.
- Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering collaboration, professional development, and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. MBA is preferred.
- Certification: CPA designation is required.
- Experience: 8–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting leadership role, is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience within a private equity-backed organization, professional services firm, or multi-entity environment is preferred. Experience with financial reporting, consolidations, and accounting operations is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems is required. Experience leading or supporting ERP implementations is preferred. Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar ERP systems is preferred.
