About the Role

This role provides accounting and financial support and leadership for the $100M+ revenue Aftermarket division of Cleaver-Brooks. Responsibilities include managing the general ledger, accounting issues, costing, external audit process, internal reporting, financial data analysis and presentation, journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and other ad-hoc activities. The role requires an analytical partner who can interpret trends in mix, volume, and margin, translate data into business insights, and proactively identify opportunities to improve performance.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, consistency with company policy, and compliance with US GAAP.
  • Analyze financial performance and act as a business partner with management to provide recommendations for improving profitability.
  • Manage a team to provide proper customer service to the organization while maintaining a robust internal control environment consistent with company policy and JSOX principles.
  • Perform month, quarter, and year-end close processes, meeting deadlines.
  • Record journal entries and provide detailed review and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain tracking tools, accounting checklists, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and track their completion.
  • Direct, consolidate, and analyze all cost accounting procedures and internal reports.
  • Perform monthly financial variance analysis, investigating deviations and communicating findings.
  • Work closely with business leaders to develop forecast and budget models for a high-volume, multi-category parts business.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly KPI and business-review package highlighting sales mix, volume, and product margin trends.
  • Identify and automate manual reporting workflows to eliminate redundant data entry.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including valuation, excess and obsolete reserve analysis, and support for physical inventory and cycle count programs.
  • Effectively manage a team, including performance reviews, coaching, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Other costing, analysis, and projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required).
  • CPA or CMA (preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Previous experience performing account reconciliations and booking journal entries (required).
  • Experience managing an accounting team (preferred).
  • Experience with ERP systems, OneStream financial reporting, and high transaction volume businesses (a plus).
  • Experience with Python or similar scripting tools for automating reporting workflows (a plus).

Skills

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, IFS, and Power BI (able to read, interpret, and perform basic work in Power BI reports).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into meaningful summaries for financial and non-financial team members.
  • Creative problem solver with a demonstrated ability to find efficient ways of doing things.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Well-organized, dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work on special projects and adapt to change while completing routine tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships across all departments.
