About the role

This position involves assisting with technical and specialized work related to electrical and control systems. Duties include locating and repairing defects in control systems, performing preventive maintenance, and compiling reports.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and repair defects in control systems involving electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
  • Perform low and medium voltage circuit breaker electrical/mechanical interlock checks, repairs, and adjustments.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance and repair activities on various equipment.
  • Make required equipment checks and inspections, record data, and prepare reports.
  • Assist in engineering layouts and preparing data for engineering procedures, specifications, contracts, bills of materials, and requisitions.
  • Use the work management system to locate or request parts, create work requests/work orders, and search and record work histories.
  • Request and accept permits to ensure proper clearance and tagging of equipment.
  • Install and remove grounds as directed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two year Associates degree in electronics or a qualifying Engineering or Science degree.
  • At least five years of related industrial technical electrical or controls experience.
  • Knowledge and skill necessary to perform work in the installation, inspection, repair, adjustment, calibration, and servicing of instruments and controls.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from simple prints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees and learn to instruct and direct other employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to physically and mentally perform work in all areas and heights required.

Qualifications

  • Physical demand level is Medium.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying 35 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 65 pounds.
  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Climbing ladders and stairs, squatting, kneeling.
  • Using hand tools and motorized equipment.

Skills

  • Technical skills in electrical and control systems.
  • Reading and interpreting technical documents.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
