Control Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on control equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain field instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level).
  • Analyze systems faults and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement and automation projects.
  • Read and Interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics.
  • Work with maintenance and operations team to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations (e.g. OSHA).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and systems changes.

      • Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) - visualization, alarming, reporting and database integration

    • Industrial Networking & Communication
      • Ethernet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), Profibus, Profinet
    • Network troubleshooting tools (wireshark, RSLinx)
    • FIIX CMMS PM or similar platforms
    • Drives & Motion Software
    • Data & Diagnosis Tools
      • Ignition Tag Historian and report modules
      • Trend and diagnostics tools for process analysis
    • Additional tools
      • Calibration software and handheld communicators (HART, Field Communicator)
      • Laptop-based diagnostic and programming tools

Requirement

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field is nice to have.
  • Manager will look at candidates with additional work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working with industrial control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the following:
    • PLCs (Allen-Bradley)
    • Motor control systems and VFDs
    • Industrial networks (ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
    • Ability to trouble shoot electrical and instrumentation systems
    • Familiarity with safety practices such as LOTO and arc flash is nice to have.
    • Candidate will be trained on both.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing environments (food & beverage, dairy, or processing plants)
  • Strong experience with SCADA platform (development, troubleshooting, and upgrades)
  • Understanding of process control loops and PID tuning.
  • Ability to work with CMMS systems
