Control Room Operator (Shift A - Mornings)

About the role

The Control Room Operator will operate the systems in the control room, monitoring all baggage handling system conditions and coordinating all system and operation related activities. This role supports the BEUMER Individual Carrier System (ICS) at Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR).

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the execution of operational procedures for specific tasks during normal operations or during system failure
• Supply accurate fault reports and system breakdowns to technical staff for quick fault resolution
• Complete handover report during shift changes
• Maintain contact with operations staff in the field to inform them of operational problems requiring intervention
• Liaise with management regarding daily operations
• Maintain contact with other BHS stakeholders to manage daily problems or questions related to system operation
• Monitor system performance (system baggage flow)
• Monitor manual encoder operator performance
• Provide technical and procedural training to manual encoding operators
• Elaborate the operation shift report
• Analyze problems to determine corrective actions to prevent future occurrence
• Carry out other assignments as requested from management or shift supervisors

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of work experience in baggage handling systems and/or automated systems in material handling industries, operations and maintenance
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain airside security clearance
• High-Level control (SAC) skills
• Software documentation and IT network knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
• Team player, personable and a winning attitude

Work Environment

• Operates in a fast-paced airport setting with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and variable temperatures
• Requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating shift schedule
• Frequent walking, climbing, bending, heavy lifting, and standing across large terminal and baggage areas

Pay

$23.93 per hour
