New Tech Machinery is seeking a Control Design Engineer to lead all aspects of controller technology within our New Tech Product Family. This role drives innovation in custom control systems, ensuring our machinery remains at the forefront of controller technology and equipment safety.
Responsibilities
- Design and test new products and processes related to controller operations, maintaining strong industry knowledge of controller technology.
- Specify products for controller assemblies and maintain documentation for design and functionality.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
- Establish testing protocols to ensure functionality meets design criteria and conduct equipment testing prior to manufacturing release.
- Maintain development schedules for new product releases and updates.
- Develop programming logic for PLCs and HMIs, including maintaining old programs and associating program loading with serialized controllers for end-user support.
- Serve as an internal expert to support service department personnel in troubleshooting and resolving field issues.
- Establish manufacturing cells for in-house assembly of controllers, ensuring compliant builds and 100% compliance testing prior to release.
- Develop methods to serialize each controller assembly with a unique identifiable serial number.
- Create effective kitting and installation processes for wiring kits in manufacturing facilities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to continuously improve manufacturing efficiencies.
- Enhance controller program functionality by working with customers and industry experts to deliver value-added performance improvements.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), including the ability to develop program codes for Siemens products.
- Experience leading the development of controller systems; preference for experience in new controller development for OEM manufacturers.
- At least 5 years of progressive controller development experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to determine and implement effective solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify cost-saving strategies.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively at all organizational levels and influence consensus.
- Highly reliable, trustworthy, honest, and committed to team success.
- Strong math skills and PC literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multitask.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E-verify.
