Position Summary

The Contracts Counsel is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating escalations, and advising on a wide range of healthcare contracts, including mergers and acquisitions. This role requires deep expertise in health and contract law, including fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) regulations such as AKS, Stark and FCA, HIPAA and privacy laws, accreditation requirements (e.g., Medicare Conditions of Participation), employment-related contracting considerations, mergers and acquisitions, and technology and data-governance regulations. The Contracts Counsel ensures that all contracts support organizational strategy, mitigate risk, and comply with federal and state regulatory requirements. The Contracts Counsel provides strategic guidance on enterprise-wide contracting practices, supports system-level initiatives, and collaborates closely with the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, and operational leaders.

Position Qualifications

  • Required Experience: 3 years of contract drafting and negotiation experience in the healthcare industry, including mergers and acquisitions

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school is required

  • Certification/Licensure: Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction is required

  • Ability to obtain full or House Counsel licensure in Oregon within 12 months from the start of employment is required
