About the role
Structural Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to support its business needs. The position is based in Columbia, MD.
Responsibilities
- Support contract management needs for one or more of Structural’s business lines
- Manage multiple contract assignments simultaneously, including reviewing, evaluating, modifying, and negotiating prime contracts and subcontract documents with external customers
- Serve as backup for the licensing and corporate organizational position within the department
- Review, analyze, and negotiate Company contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Company's guidelines for contract review, corporate policies, and project requirements
- Identify risks and issues with contract documents while assessing terms and conditions on all assigned contracts
- Draft standard legal documents such as subcontracts, waivers, purchase orders, etc.
- Participate in initiatives to establish, implement, and improve department procedures
- Support all aspects of contract dispute resolution, including responding to discovery requests and maintaining claim documentation
- Maintain a contracts database and monitor agreement expiration dates
- Assist Business Development and Estimating personnel with proposal preparation and reviewing bid documents
- Communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field of study; minor in paralegal studies or a paralegal certificate preferred
- Minimum of 5-7 years' experience working in contract management to include drafting, revision, and negotiation of construction contracts and subcontracts; some in-house legal or contracts management department experience desirable
- Prior experience working for a construction company in a similar role desirable
- Contract and construction law experience with a working knowledge of contracting concepts
- Working understanding of commercial insurance common in the construction industry is preferred
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required

- Must have a strong background in contract management
- Experience with drafting, revising, and negotiating construction contracts and subcontracts
- Knowledge of contract review processes and corporate policies
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with contract documents
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
