About the role
This position involves supporting and demonstrating IMA’s core values, including a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. You will interact professionally with clients and associates, perform role functions within an IMA office 0-50% of the time, and collaborate with leadership to develop and maintain claim service standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Market and Regional Presidents to develop and maintain claim service standards for regional clients.
- Partner with National Practice Group Leaders to establish claim service standards within designated specialties.
- Direct claim team activities in the management and advocacy of claims on behalf of clients.
- Act as a thought-leader on department-wide initiatives alongside the Claim Managing Director and other Claim Managers.
- Manage associates, including performance reviews, hiring, resolving customer complaints, and salary/budget planning.
- Review and assign matter advocacy and accounts to ensure balanced workloads and optimal outcomes.
- Contribute to hiring, development, and growth of claim staff, identifying areas for improvement.
- Communicate effectively across departments to lead change and support enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Maintain superior technical insurance and business acumen, demonstrating exceptional leadership.
- Develop and maintain excellent problem-solving skills and expand relationships with carriers, TPAs, and legal resources.
- Adopt a proactive approach to claim resolutions and strategies for assigned accounts.
- Participate in presentations, including new business, RFPs, claim reviews, and renewals.
- Attend insurance-related seminars, including continuing education classes.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of prior claim experience.
- 5+ years of prior supervisory or leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Applied Epic and carrier websites.
- Experience with MS Office products (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Exceptional technical skill and knowledge of coverage and claims handling.
- Strong mathematical and reasoning skills.
- Ability to discuss and solve claim problems with clients and insurance carriers.
