About the role

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for using expertise and experience to lead daily management systems and loss elimination processes that enable stable, reliable production of high-quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead centerline management across multiple areas by driving daily execution, coaching teams on standard work, and sustaining disciplined Daily Management System performance
  • Audit health checks and GPS audits, including CL, CIL, DH, and IE
  • Create and implement the Operator Driven Reliability (ODR) program
  • Support the Gemba Walk program
  • Create and maintain KPI reports, including SOR, DOR, WOR, weekly performance losses, and master plan reporting
  • Support GPS implementation and auditing
  • Support LMS and onboarding training
  • Support the HPWS (Pay for Skills) program and assist with implementation
  • Serve as Project Manager for Cost Saving Initiative (CSI) and productivity projects
  • Create, implement, and sustain the Waste Elimination program
  • Develop people through Lean Six Sigma coaching and training, including creating, implementing, and sustaining White Belt, Yellow Belt, and Green Belt certification programs

Leadership/Management Responsibility

  • Tour Leadership (Coaching team on standards execution)
  • Coach the teams on keeping the line at base condition
  • Department level system ownership (could also own a site level system)
  • Be a coach for the teams on the use of GPS (IWS) tools to solve problems (Why Why, Basic Problem Solving, etc.)
  • Escalate issues that need further attention properly
  • Demonstrate the GSF Creed and Values

Requirements

  • Education/Certification: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering: Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment implementing Continuous Improvement tools; OR in a continuous improvement role.
  • Food Manufacturing (preferred)
  • Six Sigma Certification (preferred)

Qualifications

  • High level of reading comprehension
  • Ability to write detailed correspondence and documentation
  • Ability to use effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to utilize complex mathematical formulas and ability to relate scientific theory to real world work processes

Skills

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing
  • Stand/walk 8 or more hours per day
  • Constantly twist/turn and talk/hear
  • Frequently squat, bend, reach, handle/finger, grip/grasp and use fine motor tasks
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs from floor to shoulder level and carry 30 feet
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision
  • Knowledge of equipment on the production line you are responsible for
  • Advanced level of computer skills
