About the role
A Content Specialist leads the development and implementation of search engine optimized content for assigned clients. They communicate regularly with clients and occasionally travel to meet with them face-to-face. They help develop training for the Content Department and delegate tasks to Content Coordinators when appropriate. They leverage digital platforms to strategically and creatively release copy, keeping clients' goals top of mind. They conduct content audits and utilize data analysis to make strategic recommendations to clients' content marketing programs. They develop written content for location pages, static pages, short-form and long-form blogs.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent service as the main point of contact for assigned client accounts
- Write copy primarily for location pages, static pages, blogs, and premium articles, however, also work on social media posts, infographics, and other relevant content
- Develop content implementation schedules and editorial calendars to ensure timely development and distribution
- Adhere to branding guidelines, along with required voice and tone and conduct keyword research when applicable
- Edit, rewrite, and proofread existing content created for Go Local Interactive and its clientele
- Conduct regular content audits for GLI’s current clients and deliver recommendations for improvement
- Leverage digital platforms to strategically release copy
- Clearly and consistently communicate between internal product teams
- Present solutions and recommendations based on data analysis related to content to prospective clients
- Develop long-term strategies for assigned client’s content programs
- Support the New Business and Strategy Departments with sales, organic growth, and client retention
- Delegate tasks to Content Coordinators when appropriate
- Responsible for training Content Coordinators and cross-training employees throughout the agency
- Ensure internal programs are properly positioned with our clients through product innovation and ideation
- Research and stay up-to-date on industry trends
Qualifications
- Demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task in a flexible and fast-paced environment to effectively meet deadlines
- Demonstrate strong conceptual and written communication skills with a deep understanding of the English language (spelling, grammar, and vocabulary)
- Demonstrate a proven track record of improving personal performance after receiving direction and constructive criticism
- Demonstrate presentation skills
- Demonstrate creative and strategic thinking when solving problems
- Demonstrate attention to detail while creating and revising projects
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of content management systems, such as WordPress
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimization, User Experience, Accessibility, and Social Media Marketing
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Adobe Acrobat DC
- Demonstrate proficient skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Mass Communications, Journalism or another related field preferred
- 2+ years of related work experience
- Google Analytics Certification is preferred
