Content Producer/Production Assistant

Responsibilities

• Produce short-form video optimized for KTSM's social platforms and digital audiences.
• Create original stories for KTSM's social media channels and digital platforms.
• Pitch and develop daily digital story ideas rooted in local news and community impact.
• Collaborate with producers/managers to integrate content.
• Stay current on emerging platforms, tools, and best practices for digital storytelling.
• Operates studio cameras during live broadcasts.
• Confers with directors and producers for newscast execution.
• Sets up cameras and related equipment.
• Produces graphics for newscasts.
• Edit video content for newscasts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

  Requirements & Skills

  • Passion for local news and serving the El Paso community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating digital video content.
  • Strong shooting and editing skills; comfortable with mobile workflows and lightweight gear.
  • Ability to write engaging captions and headlines tailored for digital audiences.
  • Sound editorial judgment; familiarity with journalism ethics and copyright best practices.
  • Organized and adaptable; able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, breaking-news environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or equivalent experience preferred.
