Media Production Assistant

WebAIM is an on-campus project and internationally recognized leader in digital accessibility. We are seeking a motivated media production assistant to help produce engaging, accessible video content. This position will initially focus on producing videos for an online course and will later support educational, outreach, and short-form marketing projects. The role provides hands-on experience producing professional video content and training in accessible video production.

About the role

We are looking for someone who is willing to work independently, learn new technologies, and collaborate with others. The position is for 15 to 20 hours a week with flexible hours through the fall semester (December 2026), with potential continuation based on available workload.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject-matter experts to plan educational and promotional videos.
• Edit video and audio into polished content that follows WebAIM’s style and accessibility standards.
• Capture screencasts, video assets, and supporting footage.
• Create and edit video captions.
• Organize source files, project files, and finished media.
• Review videos for visual, audio, captioning, and technical quality.
• Export and prepare videos for various distribution channels.
• Communicate progress and raise any problems with your supervisor.

Requirements

• Experience recording and editing through coursework, personal projects, volunteer work, or employment.
• Familiarity with at least one video-editing application.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Camtasia, Adobe After Effects, or similar tools.
• Experience creating instructional videos.
• Familiarity with captions, transcripts, and other accessible media practices.
• Motion graphics or graphic design experience.

Skills

• Interest in learning and implementing principles and practices to support accessible video content.
• Ability to organize media files and manage multiple project versions.
• Dependable communication and time management.
• Ability to work independently and incorporate feedback.

Work Environment

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, though occasional temperature changes may occur. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
