Do312 helps Chicago discover the concerts, nightlife, festivals, food and drink, cultural events, pop-ups, and community experiences that make the city worth going out for. Through our daily newsletter, website, social channels, editorial guides, giveaways, and Do312 MORE membership, we connect audiences with the people, places, and moments shaping Chicago. Do312 is part of DoStuff, a national network of 20 local event guides built to get more people out experiencing their cities.

About the role

At its core, this role is about helping Chicago discover what's worth getting off the couch for. You'll own Do312's editorial voice, turn the city's cultural calendar into useful, entertaining content, and make sure Do312 shows up consistently across email, web, and social. You'll balance hands-on writing and editing with editorial planning, audience growth, contributor management, and collaboration across the business to create content that serves both our audience and our partners.

We’re looking for someone who can move quickly without losing the details, bring a clear point of view without losing audience trust, and turn good ideas into repeatable content. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Chicago, requiring three days per week in the office, and reporting to the General Manager of Do312. Occasional evening and weekend event attendance is expected, and you should be excited to experience the city as part of the work.

Responsibilities

  • Use data to make better content, improving engagement across our newsletter, website, social channels, and membership.
  • Make Do312 MORE a natural, valuable part of the content ecosystem through useful storytelling, ticket-drop promotion, and audience education.
  • Work with our Sales and Accounts teams to deliver sponsored content that serves partners while staying true to the Do312 voice.
  • Manage freelancers, interns, and contributors to keep content consistent, high quality, and on schedule.
  • Build relationships with local venues, artists, promoters, and brands to create exclusive content, giveaways, and experiences while fostering an engaged DoStuff community across email, social media, and other channels.

Requirements

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a conversational and audience-first voice.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in editorial, content, social media, digital marketing, local media, events, or entertainment.
  • A strong pulse on emerging trends across content channels, cultural moments, and evolving audience behaviors.
  • A deep connection to Chicago and strong knowledge of its music, nightlife, food, arts, events, neighborhoods, and local culture.
  • Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple channels, deadlines, and collaborators independently and proactively.
  • Experience using performance data to improve content, plus comfort working in newsletter, CMS, social, and project-management tools.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members, including assigning work, managing deadlines, giving actionable feedback, and helping others improve.

Nice to have

  • Already a fan of Do312
  • You've grown an audience - whether that's a newsletter, social account, community, or brand.
  • Short-form video planning, editing, photography, or production experience.
  • Experience with sponsored content, events, venues, promoters, or cultural organizations.
