Consumer Loan Officer

About the role

The Consumer Loan Officer assists members throughout the consumer lending process by evaluating loan applications, underwriting consumer loans, analyzing creditworthiness, and recommending appropriate lending solutions. This role originates, underwrites, processes, and closes a variety of consumer loans, including auto, personal, recreational vehicle, and unsecured loans while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates loan applications

• Origins, underwrites, processes, and closes a variety of consumer loans
• Ensures compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements
• Provides exceptional member service by educating members on lending products
• Gathers required documentation
• Works collaboratively with internal teams to deliver a smooth, timely loan experience
• Helps members achieve their financial goals

Requirements

• Experience making sound underwriting decisions
• Absorbs and assesses risk
• Exercises lending authority within established guidelines

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in consumer lending or a related field
• Knowledge of credit union policies and regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
