Consumer Finance Litigation Senior Counsel

Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve. We are looking for a Consumer Finance Litigation Senior Counsel to join our Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit.

About the role

We will consider candidates for any of our offices, including our virtual office, The Link. Candidates residing and licensed in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, New York, or Ohio are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend financial services companies in both state and federal courts
• Represent mortgage servicers and/or originators in contested foreclosures, quiet title actions, title disputes, and related claims
• Work primarily with attorneys in our Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit
• Articulate legal strategies and courses of action
• Handle multiple projects effectively under pressure

Requirements

• At least eight years of relevant experience preferred
• Working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and other federal and state consumer protection statutes
• Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which you are applying, or commitment to obtain one as soon as possible
• For virtual office (The Link) candidates: must be licensed in the state in which you reside
• Excellent academic credentials
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated record of working well under pressure
• Exceptional judgment and ability to handle multiple projects

Pay

Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position is:

• $185,000 - $230,000 in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C. (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
• Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data
