About the role

MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) seeks a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to join our growing behavioral health team in Biddeford. This role is part of a large, well-established Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at Maine Medical Center (MMC) Portland, consisting of fellowship-trained C-L psychiatrists and experienced APPs. The position offers integration with the Portland-based team, including access to educational activities such as interdisciplinary teaching, case conferences, quality improvement, and scholarly activities.

You will provide psychiatric consultation to medical/surgical units, assessing and managing co-occurring medical, psychiatric, and substance use disorders. The role includes academic collaboration with the MMC Portland Department of Psychiatry residency and Tufts Medical School students, with opportunities to teach.

MMC Biddeford is part of the MaineHealth system, offering seamless integration with mental health services, including ECT, partial hospitalization, and ACT programs. The campus features a full-service hospital with a 24/7 emergency department, surgical services, childbirth services, pharmacy, laboratory, and a wide range of primary and specialty care practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric consultation to medical/surgical units.
  • Assess and manage co-occurring medical, psychiatric, and substance use disorders.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teaching, case conferences, quality improvement, and scholarly activities.
  • Collaborate with the MMC Portland Department of Psychiatry residency and Tufts Medical School students, with opportunities to teach.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School.
  • Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.
  • Current or eligible license as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.
  • Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligible for examination (board-certified or board-eligible in general psychiatry).
  • Current DEA Registration Certificate.
  • 3+ years' experience inclusive of residency and/or fellowship training preferred.
  • Meet other credentialing criteria defined in medical staff by-laws.

Pay

Annual base salary range for this position is $300,000.
