Consultant in Restorative Dentistry

Main duties of the job

• Provide clinical services for patients attending the Restorative Dental services of the Trust
• Deliver dental services in accordance with the Job Purpose
• Achieve clinical teaching and supervision of Junior Dental Staff including undergraduate and postgraduate students
• Provide Consultant Cover and clinical supervision for Junior Dental colleagues and postgraduates in the Directorate as necessary

Person specification

• Education, Qualifications And Specialist Skills
• Essential criteria:
• Primary Dental Qualification.
• Full GDC Registration.
• Entry on the GDC Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry or within 6 months of expected date of CCST.
• Successful completion of an SAC approved minimum 5-year training programme in Restorative dentistry or within 6 months of completion or equivalent.
• Intercollegiate specialty fellowship examination or equivalent.
• An appropriate postgraduate qualification in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent.
• Desirable criteria:
• Teaching qualification.
• Clinical Experience.
• Teaching
• Experience of supervising junior medical staff.
• Experience of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• Ability to teach clinical / technical / practical skills.
• Research
• Evidence of involvement in and understanding of research methodology and publication of findings.
• Research/critical review of literature.
• Publishations in the last five years.
• Audit
• Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
• Evidence of having changed practice as a result of audit.
• Evidence of having revisited the audit to assess improvement.

• You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
• This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
