This post provides the chance to become part of a progressive and forward-thinking department that is driving the continued growth and development of integrated infection services.

About the role

The post holder will play a key role in the management of both acute and chronic medical conditions, supporting the wider Medical Directorate while contributing to the delivery of a regional specialist Infectious Diseases service. This includes participation in out-of-hours Infectious Diseases advice and support, helping to ensure the provision of high-quality specialist care across the region.

Requirements

Essential criteria:

  • Primary Medical Qualification.
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register (within 6 months from the date of the appointment).
  • MRCPI, CCT in ID, dual-accredited with any of MM, MV or GIM.
Desirable criteria:
  • Higher degree (MA, MPH, MD, PhD, or equivalent).
  • Special skills training in the specialty.

Essential criteria:

  • Evidence of experience in the specialty.
  • Evidence of a substantial commitment to the specialty.
  • Ability to offer an expert clinical opinion within the speciality.
  • Ability to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to a tertiary centre.
Desirable criteria:
  • Involvement with management and project leadership within the specialty.
  • Evidence of involvement in authoring or reviewing clinical guidelines.
  • An understanding of Clinical Governance.

Experience:

  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff.
  • Experience of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • Ability to teach clinical / technical / practical skills.
