WSP is seeking a Consultant, Architect for our New York City office to join our Transportation Facilities Group (TFG). This role offers involvement in diverse transportation projects, supporting local and regional growth initiatives. TFG comprises over 60 engineers and architects across the Northeast, with major hubs in New York City, Boston, St. Louis, and San Francisco.

About the role

The Associate Consultant, Architect will work under senior supervision on designs for rail and bus stations, pre-K and higher education projects, airports, transportation hubs, rail systems, and other engineering-support projects. Clients include NYCT, MTA Bus, LIRR, MNR, PANY&NJ, Amtrak, NYC SCA, and local utilities. Projects range from small to large-scale, providing exposure to varied disciplines within the New York office.

Responsibilities

  • Development of architectural drawings and specifications, including renderings and presentation boards
  • Code compliance for new construction and renovations of transportation-related facilities
  • Perform local and/or regional site inspections and investigations
  • Attend client and project meetings
  • Project coordination
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct in adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Arts/Science in Architecture with a Master’s in Architecture
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience; transportation experience is a plus
  • Understanding of building codes, including NY State and NYC Building Codes
  • Knowledge of construction drawing standards
  • Proficiency in architectural tools (AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Microstation, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and multitask
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
  • Ability to work in the United States immediately
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Detailed experience in architectural building design and rehabilitation, with construction exposure
  • Experience within the transportation industry

Pay

Expected salary range: $84,500–$135,000. Compensation is based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity, as well as geographic location.
