About the role
Participate in the construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of facilities/structures and parks; perform a variety of construction tasks involved in the renovation of wooden, concrete, brick or metal City buildings including rough and finish carpentry, masonry, block laying, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, minor welding, plastering, roofing, tiling, fence installation and sheetrock work and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours of specialized training in construction, carpentry, plumbing, or welding
- Two (2) years general construction experience
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain by date of hire
- City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire
Qualifications
- Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis
Skills
- Methods and techniques of general construction and building remodeling
- Methods and techniques of general carpentry, block laying, brick laying, painting, fence building and cement work
- Operational characteristics of construction equipment and tools
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
