Construction/Maintenance Worker II (Grounds Maintenance)
About the role
Performs manual labor and semi-skilled work in the construction and maintenance of County grounds and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Maintains athletic fields by cutting grass, dragging fields, and lining fields.
- Serves as a lead worker when needed for new hires and seasonal employees.
- Operates light machinery and uses hand tools to prune trees, mow lawns, remove snow, etc.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent and 1-2 years experience in landscape maintenance work;
- Valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with good driving record;
- Certification as a State Category 60 Registered Technician for pesticide application required, or must have the ability to obtain such certification with 6 months of employment;
- Safety shoes required;
- Acceptable criminal background check.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- A high school diploma or equivalent;
- 1-2 years of experience in landscape maintenance work;
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record;
- A State Category 60 Registered Technician for pesticide application certification, or the ability to obtain such certification within six months of employment;
- Physical ability to operate various machinery and equipment including lawn mowers, weed eaters, chippers, edgers, chainsaws, hand tools, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning equipment, etc.;
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle;
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, carrying materials, bending, stooping, standing, and walking.

$46,581.00 - $54,753.00 Annually
