Construction Technician 2

About the role

The Construction Technician 2 supports the Construction Services segment in delivering projects that meet quality standards and budgets while adhering to timelines.

Responsibilities

• Inputs data into pre-written computer programs
• Operates computer and runs reports or calculations
• Interprets construction plans and specifications
• Observes construction operations on various sites to assess conformance to plans and specifications
• Performs construction materials testing
• Communicates effectively with other staff, contractor personnel, and client representatives
• Participates in technical training sessions and achieves various certifications associated with construction inspection, as well as renewing held certifications

Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years’ experience with construction inspection or construction trades
• Knowledge: Established knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and ordinances, building codes, construction materials (such as); soil, concrete, rebar layout, masonry, steel, etc. relevant to projects involving roadway/paving, pipe-lines, renovations, bridge, tunnels, drainage, and materials verification/design
• Vehicle: Must have a reliable personal vehicle available for daily use to travel to job sites
• Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels, well-organized and demonstrated interpersonal relations skills

Physical working requirements

• Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Able to walk up/down stairs
• Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
• Subject to outside environmental conditions
