Key Responsibilities
- Lead construction projects valued at $500,000 or less.
- Provide oversight and direction to Superintendent 2 personnel as necessary.
- Organize, direct, and control project teams, including:
- Work schedules
- Project progress
- Resource allocation
- Manage construction projects, including:
- Project scope
- Schedule
- Budget
- Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
- Lead constructability reviews and evaluate potential impacts to construction cost and schedule.
- Support all phases and complexity levels of:
- Construction projects
- Facility upgrades
- Renovations
- Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D)
- Control Account Management:
- May serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) responsible for:
- Planning, budgeting, managing, and controlling project or subproject costs.
- Managing schedule and technical performance.
- Serving as a point of contact for project controls.
- Ensuring work packages realistically represent the duration and budget necessary to perform the work.
- Performing variance analysis reviews.
- Determining the cause and effect of schedule or cost variances.
- Developing achievable corrective action plans.
- Presenting project management: Performance plans, Status updates, Trends, Issuesto federal sponsors as required.
- Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Recommend risk acceptance or avoidance strategies for all aspects of a project.
- Initiate investigations of abnormal events, incidents, and/or accidents.
- Identify root causes and assist with implementing appropriate corrective actions.
- Identify problem areas and investigate alternative solutions.
- Develop recovery plans and paths forward.
- Determine appropriate actions for problems affecting maintenance programs.
- Apply extensive knowledge of facility maintenance and construction management, including:
- Systems engineering design and maintenance
- Safety and authorization basis
- Configuration management programs
- Work control
- Facility control systems
- Understand and interpret:
- Physical documents
- Mechanical documents
- Electrical documents
- Blueprints
- Drawings
- Schematics
- Provide leadership, direction, and technical advice regarding:
- Health
- Safety
- Environmental compliance
- Apply extensive knowledge of:
- Work hazards
- Safety practices
- Operating configurations
- Lockout/Tagout policies and procedures
- Labor & Workforce Management
- Apply extensive knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements related to all trades.
- Promote an open communication environment that supports mutual trust and teamwork.
- Stakeholder & Customer Engagement:
- Establish and maintain strong and effective customer relationships.

- Program management

- Develop clear and executable action plans to address project issues and needs.
- Report project status to senior-level management and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present oral and written reports.

- Maintain and track project and job activities.
- Cook materials and equipment deliveries with vendors and suppliers.
- Education & Experience:
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline OR
- Specialized coursework in project management AND
- Ten (10) years of work experience, including 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following areas: Engineering, Procurement, Construction OR An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides a thorough understanding of the required knowledge and responsibilities.
