About the role
SEG, Inc. is a design-build general contractor specializing in commercial, institutional, and government construction projects. We are seeking a Superintendent I to manage day-to-day field operations, ensure project quality and safety, and lead subcontractors and self-performed crews from project start through completion.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations to ensure project milestones and schedule completion are met
- Develop and maintain short-interval look-ahead schedules to proactively plan upcoming work
- Supervise multiple trades of subcontractors and self-performed staff on active jobsites
- Review materials delivered to the site to ensure compliance with submittals and specifications
- Coordinate work activities to ensure construction is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents
- Write and track RFIs, maintain red-line drawings, and ensure field documentation is current
- Verify work is installed in a high-quality, workmanlike manner
- Proactively identify issues that could impact project execution and assist in developing solutions
- Obtain required inspections and ensure quality documentation is complete
- Ensure compliance with all contract terms, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
- Administer client-specific programs such as CQC, Safety, and Environmental Stewardship
- Attend and lead progress meetings with internal staff, subcontractors, owners, and client representatives
- Manage project scope changes to prevent rework and ensure current documents are used
- Oversee punch list completion and project closeout activities
- Maintain daily paperwork including timecards, field reports, schedule updates, and correspondence
- Foster a professional jobsite culture focused on safety, cleanliness, communication, and teamwork
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar field with 5–7 years of related experience, or journeyman status in a building trade with 10+ years of supervisory responsibility
- Minimum 5 years of experience with a commercial and/or institutional general contractor
- Government contracting experience preferred (3+ years)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and Statements of Work (SOW)
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and construction-related software
- OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications preferred
- USACE/NAVFAC CQC certification strongly preferred
