The company has grown to cover the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast US regions, with 7 regional offices across Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Responsibilities
- Enforce safety compliance and advocate for safety
- Supervise construction efforts to ensure adherence to design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives
- Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and others
- Ensure compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules
- Supervise and ensure the health and safety of workers
- Prepare and distribute field reports
- Monitor and direct subcontractor progress
- Prepare subcontractor work schedules
- Verify layouts and check subcontractor work
- Communicate with subcontractors regarding project documents
- Participate in pre-construction planning
- Maintain contract documents and red line as builts
- Manage and train other superintendents
- Ensure jobsite cleanliness to Marand's standards
- Communicate with Construction Manager on financial, safety, and construction issues
- Work harmoniously with project managers and other personnel
- Manage and oversee construction progress
- Interface with subcontractors and other personnel
- Ensure compliance with local permit processes
- Manage and maintain on-site field office
- Work in various weather conditions and on different types of construction sites
- Perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and operating machinery
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least five years of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- A Construction OSHA 30 within the last 5 years or ability to renew
- Proficient in project reporting software, MS Office, and blueprint reading
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various job sites
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year College or University or an Associate’s Degree from a Vocational School is a plus
- Minimum of five to ten years’ experience “on the job”
- Travel is a requirement of this job
