Construction Superintendent

About the role

Position Description Supervises the field construction of a project, including its organization, planning, and scheduling, to complete the work on time, within budget, and to quality specified. Our Superintendents are critical to the success of the project team and are directly responsible for the supervision, coordination, scheduling, and control of all field activities of Subcontractors and suppliers. Our Superintendents protect and promote the interest of the Company in all matters. Reports to: Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Primary liaison with owners/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
• Developing and implementing overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
• Leading, supervising, and developing all Company field staff, including providing input on performance appraisals.
• Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
• Assist Project Manager and Project Engineer in securing all equipment guarantees, warranties and service/maintenance agreements
• Keep Project Manager and Project Engineer informed as to changes made in the field, so that such changes may be covered by general contact change orders and subcontract change orders.
• Keep detailed daily records of subcontractors’ work progress for monthly billing reviews.
• Assist Site Safety and Health Officer in developing and managing the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Healtheon standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
• Managing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
• Overseeing work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation.
• Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule, and all other appropriate matters.
• Managing labor relations with subcontractors and Healtheon staff.
• Implement inspections and associated testing, review, and approval.
• Ensuring all necessary permits and insurance are in place and kept current for the term of the project.
• Acting as liaison to inspection agencies.
• Managing the General Conditions and General Requirements for the project to maintain budget.
• Coordinating with the Project Manager to manage the billing process as it relates to work in place and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
• Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
• Supervise all subcontractors who are on-site.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and weekly progress meetings with client, architect, engineers, and project team.
