Construction Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects throughout the Metro Detroit area.

About the role

This field-based position serves as the primary on-site leader, managing all construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. The Superintendent coordinates subcontractors, maintains project schedules, enforces site safety, and drives successful execution from mobilization through closeout. The company handles a variety of work, including commercial, K-12, civic, recreation, and federal projects.

Current projects include Detroit Public Schools work and infrastructure upgrades at Sheldon Park and Heilmann Park. The role typically manages one project at a time, with minimal travel requirements, and includes a $350/month vehicle allowance as part of the total compensation package.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day construction operations on assigned projects.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel.
• Develop, maintain, and drive project schedules.
• Enforce site safety standards and conduct regular safety meetings.
• Monitor quality and ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.
• Conduct site inspections and identify potential issues before they impact schedule or budget.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, owners, and inspectors.
• Maintain daily reports, progress documentation, and project records.
• Ensure project milestones are achieved and client expectations are met.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing construction projects from start to finish.
• Experience in vertical construction projects.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors, project schedules, and site safety.
• Experience overseeing renovations, additions, interior build-outs, or ground-up construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, quality control, and field coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Federal or government project experience.
• K-12 education project experience.
• Municipal project experience.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent factors.

This is a Contract to Hire, fully onsite position based in Detroit, MI. The role typically supports one project at a time with a diverse portfolio and a strong pipeline of local projects.
