Construction Superintendent

About the role

The Construction Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Lafayette, IN, responsible for overseeing daily field operations on commercial construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily field operations on commercial construction projects
• Coordinating and supervising subcontractors and site crews, ensuring work is completed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and safety standards
• Monitoring project progress
• Resolving on-site issues
• Managing inspections
• Communicating regularly with project managers and stakeholders
• Oversight of site logistics
• Maintaining jobsite documentation
• Supporting quality control, scheduling, and cost control efforts

Qualifications

• Strong Construction Site Management skills, including supervision of trades, coordination of daily activities, and enforcement of project plans and specifications
• Construction Safety knowledge, including OSHA standards, jobsite safety protocols, and experience leading safety meetings and inspections
• Solid Organization Skills, including documentation management, schedule tracking, and effective time management on complex projects
• Budgeting and cost-awareness skills, including understanding of project budgets, change orders, and efficient use of labor and materials
• Project Management capabilities, including scheduling, stakeholder communication, problem-solving, and progress reporting
• Prior experience as a Superintendent or Foreperson, familiarity with construction software, and strong verbal and written communication skills

High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent field experience, is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, stand and move around the jobsite for extended periods, and work in varying weather conditions is required.
