Construction Staff Field Technician 1

About the role

ARA’s Test Technology Division is seeking a motivated and experienced Construction Staff Field Technician to support defense-related technical projects at Kirtland Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range. The role involves fabrication of structures and test articles—welding, carpentry, machining, concrete placements, heavy-equipment operation, and surveying—alongside engineering and scientific staff.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate test articles and support general test-setup activities
• Perform welding, carpentry, machining, concrete placement, and heavy-equipment operations
• Maintain equipment inventory and ensure safe operation of tools and machinery
• Read and interpret design drawings
• Work outdoors in varying conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
• Travel up to 25 % of the time
• Obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• Pass respirator fit-testing for air-purifying, half-face, and full-face respirators

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Minimum of 3 years in general construction or equivalent hands-on experience
• Proficiency with construction equipment: saws, drills, forklifts, heavy machinery
• Metal fabrication and welding skills (certification capability required)
• Carpentry and concrete placing/finishing skills
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities
