About the role

AECOM Hunt, an ENR Top Contractor specializing in large-scale infrastructure, sports stadiums, and mega construction projects, is seeking a seasoned Construction Safety professional to join our team in Cleveland, OH. This role is part of a global team of over 50,000 professionals delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Lead safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters on-site.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Occupational Safety or relevant curriculum and 4 years of construction safety experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required); CSP, CHST, or similar certifications (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with OCIP and CCIP (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • 4+ years of construction safety management, with a preference for experience in large-scale projects or sports stadiums.

Physical Demands

The following physical demands are typically required for individuals in construction field roles, with or without accommodation:

  • Physical stamina and mobility, including climbing ladders and stairs, using personnel hoists, and moving through various terrain and active construction zones.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Capability to use hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Work Environment

Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. Work environments may include:

  • Proximity to heavy machinery and elevated work areas.
  • Exposure to airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks.
  • Moderate to high noise levels depending on the phase of construction.
  • Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and remain alert to ensure safety.
