Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of KCI's safety, loss control, and risk management programs across assigned projects.
- Develop and maintain project-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with project leadership, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft employees to promote a strong safety culture.
- Maintain a visible presence in the field through safety audits, inspections, observations, and coaching.
- Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of safety concerns.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and project teams.
- Support new employee orientation and ongoing safety education initiatives.
- Monitor Workers' Compensation claims and collaborate with operations and insurance partners to reduce claim costs and lost-time incidents.
- Track safety performance metrics, analyze trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Participate in preconstruction planning to identify project risks and develop effective safety strategies.
- Maintain required safety records, documentation, and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy civil.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
- DOT and MSHA experience preferred.
- OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510 certification preferred.
- Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and safety training programs.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
