Construction Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of KCI's safety, loss control, and risk management programs across assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with project leadership, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft employees to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the field through safety audits, inspections, observations, and coaching.
  • Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of safety concerns.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and project teams.
  • Support new employee orientation and ongoing safety education initiatives.
  • Monitor Workers' Compensation claims and collaborate with operations and insurance partners to reduce claim costs and lost-time incidents.
  • Track safety performance metrics, analyze trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning to identify project risks and develop effective safety strategies.
  • Maintain required safety records, documentation, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy civil.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • DOT and MSHA experience preferred.
  • OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510 certification preferred.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and safety training programs.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
