About the role
The Safety Manager at Joseph J. Albanese Inc. plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace environment. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position oversees the implementation of the company's safety, health, and environmental (EHS) program.
Responsibilities
- Understand and adhere to government, company, and general contractor EHS requirements.
- Negotiate and resolve discrepancies regarding EHS requirements.
- Coach and mentor operations personnel, project managers, general contractors, and subcontractors on creating an injury-free culture.
- Develop and execute safe working plans, and provide training on EHS subjects.
- Assist in the review and approval of subcontractor safety programs.
- Track and manage subcontractor safety performance, and collaborate with the project team to address poor performance.
- Support cross-functional EHS teams, task forces, safety committees, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field is preferred.
- A Professional Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP, ASP, CHST) is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification is required.
- At least 5-7 years of professional safety experience, with 2 years in the construction industry preferred.
- Knowledge of Cal/OSHA construction and general industry regulations is required.
- Management or supervisory experience or a senior staff position is desired.
- Eligibility to drive a company vehicle per company insurance policy is required.
