Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations, as well as company safety policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment.
- Affiliate in the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans and procedures.
- Ensure all subcontractors and vendors comply with project safety requirements.
Training and Awareness
- Deliver safety orientations and toolbox talks for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Provide ongoing training to promote hazard recognition and safe work practices.
- Coach and mentor workers and supervisors to enhance safety performance and accountability.
Incident Management
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Support return-to-work and corrective action processes following incidents.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, training, and incident reports.
- Generate and submit required safety performance reports to management and clients.
- Track leading and lagging indicators to measure safety performance.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with project managers, foremen, and crews to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Participate in pre-task planning and job hazard analysis (JHA) reviews.
- Act as a liaison between field staff and corporate safety leadership.
- Provide guidance on personal protective equipment (PPE) selection, use, and care.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve safety systems, processes, and culture.
- Stay current on industry safety trends, best practices, and regulatory updates.
- Support company-wide safety initiatives and contribute to long-term safety goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification (required).
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety regulations.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on active construction sites.
