Job Title: Quality ManagerJob Description The Quality Manager serves as the quality champion for one or more construction projects, overseeing all quality management activities related to workmanship, materials, documentation, and project close-out. This role ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably while meeting or exceeding quality standards. The Quality Manager coaches and mentors project teams in quality management principles, leads key quality processes, and drives continuous improvement through data analysis, audits, and risk management strategies. Responsibilities Lead and manage quality management activities for assigned projects, including quality of the works, material management, documentation, and close-out to support safe, efficient, effective, and profitable project execution.Coach, mentor, and train project staff in quality management principles, procedures, and project-specific requirements to build strong quality culture across all project teams.Serve as a mentor and coach to Quality staff, supporting their career development and improving retention through guidance, feedback, and ongoing training.Lead and manage key quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports (QIRs), and follow-up inspections to ensure issues are identified, documented, and resolved.Establish, monitor, and report on project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and QIRs to drive continuous improvement and maintain high-quality standards.Analyze project KPIs, evaluate trends, and develop and recommend improvement strategies to enhance quality performance and reduce non-conformances.Routinely audit project quality programs using Project QC Evaluation and other auditing tools, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and corrective actions.Provide feedback to Operations and Quality Management regarding major QIRs, project team relationships, owner and client perceptions, and recurring quality non-conformances.Direct inspection, testing, and documentation of the works, ensuring all activities comply with project specifications, standards, and quality requirements.Schedule and coordinate inspection and testing activities among operations teams, consultants, material laboratories, and the client to maintain efficient workflows and accurate results.Create and implement project-specific inspection and test plans, quality control plans, and other procedures as needed to meet project requirements and industry standards.Support review of material specifications, including concrete mix designs, thermal control plans, and other specialized quality elements, ensuring materials meet performance and compliance requirements.Develop and manage risk management strategies that improve project profitability by reducing risk, increasing efficiency, and strengthening process management and risk mitigation.Maintain strong working relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, design partners, and other stakeholders to support project partnering, collaboration, and effective issue resolution.Support Site Safety efforts to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures, requirements, and goals, integrating safety considerations into quality processes.Monitor project quality-related costs, including resource utilization, and work to improve alignment with as-bid budgets while optimizing project billing returns and risk reporting.Protect the organization from claim exposure by ensuring accurate testing, thorough documentation, and effective resolution of quality issues.Monitor and report rework costs through the QIR system, using data to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.Promote continuous improvement and recognition of achievement and sustained performance, supporting advancement of skill sets and progression to higher-level Quality Control roles. Essential Skills Level 1 Quality Control Manager (QCM) qualification, with 3 years preferred experience in a dedicated Quality role.A minimum of 5 years of overall experience, preferably within construction or related fields.Experience in water and wastewater projects or heavy civil construction involving earthwork or mechanical systems.Strong background in quality control within construction environments, including field and office-based activities.Proficiency with Bluebeam, Autodesk applications, Excel, Word, and general computer skills necessary for documentation, analysis, and reporting.Good communication skills, with the ability to convey complex quality requirements clearly to diverse project teams and stakeholders.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, analyze root causes, and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.Ability to prioritize tasks, organize work effectively, and manage time in a dynamic project environment with changing demands.Knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, and publications related to job duties, enabling accurate interpretation and application in the field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated ability to mentor and train staff in quality management principles and project-specific procedures.Experience establishing, monitoring, and analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Quality Incident Reports (QIRs) for continuous improvement.Familiarity with project auditing tools such as Project QC Evaluation or similar frameworks.Experience developing and implementing project-specific inspection and test plans and quality control plans.Exposure to material specification review, including concrete mix design and thermal control, and other specialized quality elements.background in risk management strategies focused on process improvement, risk mitigation, and profitability enhancement.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, design partners, and stakeholders.Understanding of how quality management interacts with safety programs and project financial performance, including budgets, billing, and claim exposure.Potential for advancement to higher-level Quality Control Manager roles based on achievement, sustained performance, and skill development. Work Environment The role primarily supports construction projects in the field, with occasional work in an office setting. The Quality Manager travels between job sites to conduct inspections, audits, and meetings with project teams, consultants, laboratories, and clients. The environment involves active construction sites, requiring coordination with operations, design partners, and subcontractors, as well as use of digital tools such as Bluebeam, Autodesk, Excel, and Word for documentation and analysis. Work hours follow typical project schedules and may vary based on project needs and deadlines, with an emphasis on collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement within a professional construction setting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Project Bonus that you can receive every time 25% is complete 2 weeks of PTO, then you accrue hours.
