Construction Quality Control Manager
About the role
This role oversees all quality control activities for construction projects on site at an Air Force Base in Charleston.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the on-site quality control program for all construction activities at the Charleston Air Force Base.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific quality control plans in accordance with USACE or NAVFAC requirements.
- Inspect and verify construction work related to sewer and storm drain repair, renovations, and other underground utilities to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Capture and document all quality control inspections, tests, and reports, ensuring accurate and timely recordkeeping.
- Identify nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and follow up to confirm resolution and prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and client representatives to maintain consistent quality standards.
- Maintain oversight of construction methods and materials to confirm adherence to federal construction requirements and contract documents.
- Conduct regular site walkthroughs to verify workmanship, safety practices, and adherence to quality procedures.
- Participate in preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections as required by USACE or NAVFAC quality control programs.
- Support and promote a strong safety culture on site by integrating quality and safety requirements into daily operations.
- Prepare and present quality-related reports, documentation, and updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Active Quality Control Manager (QC) certification from USACE or NAVFAC.
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification (OSHA30).
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in federal construction projects.
- Hands-on experience with sewer and storm drain repair and renovations or similar underground utilities work.
- Strong background in construction management and quality control practices.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal construction standards, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proficiency in documenting inspections, tests, and quality control activities.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with project teams and client representatives.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality issues on site.
Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- EM 385-1-1 safety training or certification is a plus.
- Experience working on military or other federal facilities is beneficial.
- Familiarity with USACE and NAVFAC quality control procedures and reporting formats.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Capability to foster a culture of quality and safety within the project team.
Work Environment
This position is based on site at an Air Force Base in Charleston and involves working in an active construction environment. The role requires regular presence in the field, including around underground utilities such as sewer and storm drain systems. The work setting is typical of federal construction projects, with coordination among multiple trades and stakeholders.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of North Charleston, SC.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $52.00/hr.
