Construction (QA) Inspector - Tyndall AFB

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections and submit reports on construction projects at federal facilities for compliance with contract, design documents, plans and specifications in regard to workmanship, materials, installation and construction methods.
  • Provide recommendations or necessary changes to government personnel regarding contract plans and specification relative to all phases of construction.
  • Monitor contractor’s quality system and administer the three-phase inspection process.
  • Provide surveillance at construction sites and assist owner in problem resolution.
  • Deliver and review change orders; modifications; RFIs; and submittals.
  • Monitor contractor’s schedule.
  • Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment.
  • Verify accuracy of as-built drawings.
  • Review and ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by the contractor.
  • Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and must pass a Federal Background Review and drug screen.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED minimum; Construction related degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience on construction projects large complex multimillion dollar federal projects, Department of Defense preferred
  • Experience with wide range of trades including, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction
  • Army Corp of Engineering (USACE), preferred
  • Experience using RMS 3.0, preferred
  • Experience with three-phase inspection process
  • Knowledge of building and construction crafts since detailed inspections must be made to ensure the required level of workmanship
  • Capable of reading contract drawings and specifications
  • Professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable

Physical Requirements

  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Safe and successful performance of the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat
