Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manages construction projects, ensuring adherence to contract and subcontract terms, performance, quality assurance, compliance requirements and engineering specifications.
- Prepares and negotiates scopes of work, schedules and fee proposals.
- Examines materials and workmanship to ensure the finished construction product is in accordance with the standards required by the plans and specifications.
- Affords assistance with coordination of all field activities related to project construction management including field observations, reports, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and pay requests.
- Prepares project substantial completion letters, sewer and water release letters, and reports regarding contractor grievances.
- Affords assistance with completing inspections and obtaining certifications.
- Maintains quality assurance and quality control methods testing performed by outside contractors and laboratories.
- Solves construction conflict problems where possible and recommends any probable or desirable changes requiring a change order.
- Affords assistance to Civil Engineers to include project information gathering, cost estimating, preparing statements of work, performing design and construction submittal reviews, site observations, progress meetings, site inspections, and project closeout.
- Affords assistance in arranging for final inspection and establishing a date of acceptance for each project and preparing final certificates for the approval of the client after execution of a punch list.
- Presents the client with an operating manual and/or “as built” drawing upon final acceptance.
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering or Construction.
- AZ registered professional engineer required (or the ability to obtain PE in short time.).
- 10-15 years of experience with civil engineering and/or construction management.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, supervise, coordinate technical work and satisfy clients.
- Proven track record of successful client interaction including initiating contracts, negotiating contracts, ensuring client satisfaction, and securing referrals.
- Ability to read, review, and perform technical reviews of plans and specifications for design and construction projects.
- Monitors projects from design through construction for compliance with contract terms, conditions, codes, policies, and regulations.
- Demonstrated capability to organize and manage multi-disciplined project tasks, be subject matter or functional area expert on each project and manage Architecture/Engineering Construction Projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and various document control software.
- Knowledgeable in the use of CPM scheduling programs and project management software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
- Capacity to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills with limited supervision.
