Responsibilities
- Aid in developing project schedules, scopes of work, and construction budgets.
- Support the review and coordination of construction drawings, specifications, and permit documents.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings to align on scope, sequencing, and logistics.
- Solicit subcontractor and vendor bids, compile bid packages, evaluate proposals, and support contract award recommendations.
- Review contracts, subcontractor agreements, and purchase orders to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Support day-to-day construction activities by coordinating between the Project Manager, site superintendent, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Manage the submittal process, track submittals, shop drawings, and material approvals.
- Distribute responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and maintain logs of resolution.
- Maintain project schedule milestones, identify potential delays, and communicate risks to the Project Manager.
- Conduct regular site visits to verify work is progressing according to approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment scheduling, and logistics to support uninterrupted field operations.
- Support utility coordination, site access planning, and permitting requirements.
- Aid in tracking project costs against budget, preparing and managing change order logs, and supporting owner billings and project invoicing.
- Identify and flag potential cost overruns, budget risks, or scope creep early and escalate with supporting documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety by supporting compliance with OSHA standards, participating in JHA reviews, safety walks, and incident reporting.
- Assist in quality control activities, including inspections, punch list development and tracking, and close-out of deficiencies.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, local codes, and contract requirements.
- Maintain organized and current project documentation, prepare and distribute project status reports, and support lessons-learned reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in construction project engineering, project management, or a closely related field; experience with commercial, industrial, or modular/manufactured construction preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of construction means and methods, project scheduling, cost management, and contract administration.
- Experience with submittals, RFI management, change order processing, and subcontractor coordination.
- Proficiency with project management and construction software (Oracle Unifier strongly preferred; Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to compile and analyze cost and schedule data.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and a commitment to maintaining safe job sites.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and internal leadership.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to remote project sites on a regular basis; valid driver’s license required.
- Experience with modular, prefabricated, or remote/workforce accommodation construction is a plus.
