Job Title: Construction Project EngineerJob Description The Construction Project Engineer supports the full lifecycle of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within scope and budget. The Project Engineer will contribute to planning, coordination, and documentation while gaining broad exposure to project management and estimating in a growing, dynamic organization. Responsibilities Support day-to-day field operations and coordinate activities of subcontractors and trades to keep work progressing safely and efficiently.Track and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders, ensuring timely responses and accurate documentation.Perform regular site walks, inspections, and quality checks to verify work aligns with project specifications and drawings.Assist with developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules, including tracking milestones and critical path activities.Prepare, organize, and maintain project documentation and reporting, including daily reports and document control logs.Coordinate with clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders to clarify scope, resolve issues, and maintain clear communication.Ensure field work complies with project specifications, construction drawings, and safety standards at all times.Assist with project closeout activities, including punch list creation and completion, and preparation of turnover documentation.Support field coordination with subcontractors and trades, helping resolve conflicts and sequencing issues in the field.Contribute to project coordination efforts across 2–3 active projects at a time, including health facilities, industrial offices, and office space projects involving renovations, additions, and ground-up construction.Collaborate with project leadership to identify potential risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement in project execution.Gain exposure to and assist with estimating activities as needed, supporting the growth and development of project controls. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer working on commercial construction projects.Experience working on industrial, automotive, and/or higher education construction projects.Proven experience with field coordination of subcontractors and trades on active construction sites.Hands-on experience managing RFIs, submittals, document control, change orders, and daily reporting.Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.Experience with project management and construction management processes in a commercial environment.Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, including supporting 2–3 projects at a time.Strong communication skills with field teams, subcontractors, and clients, both verbally and in writing.Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.Willingness and ability to travel for approximately one week every 2–3 weeks.Experience working with general contractors, subcontractor management, and project coordination.Solid understanding of commercial construction practices, including renovation, additions, and ground-up projects. Work Environment The role offers a mix of field and office work, providing regular exposure to active construction sites as well as project coordination in an office setting. You will typically support 2–3 commercial projects at a time, including health facilities, industrial offices, and office space projects that span renovations, additions, and ground-up construction. The position is salaried and generally involves working 40–50 hours per week, with schedules aligned to project needs and field activities. Travel is an integral part of the role, with the expectation to be on the road for approximately one week every 2–3 weeks to support project sites.
