Construction Project Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day field operations and coordinate subcontractors and trades to keep work progressing according to plan.
  • Track and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders to maintain accurate project documentation and communication.
  • Perform regular site walks, inspections, and quality checks to verify work aligns with project requirements.
  • Aid in developing and maintaining project schedules, as well as preparing project documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain alignment on project goals.
  • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, construction drawings, and applicable safety standards.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, including punch lists, turnover documentation, and final inspections.
  • Support document control processes, including daily reporting and record keeping for field activities.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer working on commercial construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with field coordination of subcontractors and trades on active job sites.
  • Proficiency in managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control processes.
  • Experience with daily reporting and maintaining accurate construction project documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel as required to support multiple job sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with field teams, clients, and design professionals.
  • Solid foundation in construction project coordination and project management principles.

Qualifications

  • Experience working on industrial, automotive, and higher education construction projects.
  • Experience supporting projects in healthcare or similar complex facility environments.
  • Experience working with a general contractor delivering commercial construction work.
  • Construction management and project coordination experience across multiple stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to respond to changing field conditions and constraints.
  • Interest in career growth into Project Manager or Superintendent roles through hands-on field experience.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and contribute to a team-driven, safety-focused culture.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when handling project documentation and reporting.
