Construction Payroll Assistant

Ballard Marine Construction · Neenah, WI · 3 wk ago
Human Resources$22–$28/hrFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role? The posting includes "WHY JOIN BALLARD MARINE CONSTRUCTION?" which is like about the company and role. Also "Job Summary:" etc. We need headings:

for section headings like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Use only sections that have real specific content. We must not repeat job title as heading. Remove boilerplate like EEO, navigation, etc. Also remove "ID: 1862-356" maybe minor metadata can be folded into short

or drop. We'll keep location maybe? Not required but can be in a short p. We need to preserve all substantive info: company description, why join, job summary, ideal candidate core attributes, education, driver's license, experience required, responsibilities (first year and after), physical demands/working environment, benefits, salary range. We must not include sections with placeholder like "commensurate with experience" for Pay? Actually they gave salary range $22 - $28/hr and note "Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications." That's specific enough to include Pay section with the range. We should not include "commensurate with experience" as filler; we can include the range and note that it's commensurate. Schedule: Not mentioned; no schedule info, so we should not create Schedule section. Benefits: they list benefits; include Benefits section. Qualifications vs Requirements vs Skills: The posting has Education, Driver's License, Experience (Required), and then Skills list. We can combine into Requirements (education, license, experience) and Skills (organizational, etc). Or we could have Qualifications (education, license, experience) and Skills. We'll follow typical: Requirements (education, license, experience) and Skills (the list). Also maybe "Ideal Candidate: Core Attributes" could be part of Qualifications or separate? Could be "Qualifications". We'll treat core attributes as part of Qualifications (maybe as "Ideal Candidate"). We need to avoid duplication: The Skills list includes many items, some repeated like "Self-motivated with the ability to work independently" appears twice. We'll deduplicate. We'll produce HTML:

Location: Neenah, WI

maybe.

About the role

with company description and why join.

Job Summary

maybe but we can incorporate into About the role? The instruction says use headings for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). So we should use those exact headings if we have content. We can have About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay. Not Schedule. We need to decide what goes where. About the role: company overview, why join, culture, projects. Responsibilities: list of duties (first year and after). Requirements: maybe education, driver's license, experience required. Qualifications: maybe core attributes? Or we could treat core attributes as Qualifications. But we already have Requirements for experience etc. Let's put Qualifications: Core Attributes (grit, resiliency, etc). Or we could combine core attributes into Requirements. However the instruction says prefer few substantive sections over many thin ones. So we could combine Requirements and Qualifications into one section? But they gave examples of possible headings; we can choose which to include. To avoid many thin sections, we could have: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements (including education, license, experience, core attributes), Skills, Benefits, Pay. Thus we have 6 sections. Now we need to ensure we don't include filler like "commensurate with experience" as heading content; we can include the range and note it's commensurate. Let's extract details. About the role: Ballard Marine Construction is a specialty marine and underwater contractor based in Washougal, WA, with regional offices and projects throughout North America. Why join Ballard? It’s simple. You get to work on amazing technical projects with like-minded team members. The Ballard culture is second to none, and because of that we are incredibly protective and particular on who we invite onto the team. We have a unique culture of true excellence; we hold each other accountable from our newest interns and engineers to our most senior leaders. You will always go to work knowing that everyone you are working with cares as much as you do and is working hard to reach common goals. You will get out of it what you put into it. Ballard is an amazing place to work and if what we’ve said resonates with you, you just might be right for us! Our projects are built in some of the most challenging marine environments in North America from busy ports and working waterfronts to critical infrastructure that keeps communities moving and industries operating. But project success isn't driven by the field alone. Behind every successful project is a team of operations professionals ensuring the right information, processes, and support are in place to keep work moving forward. If you're someone who thrives on organization, accuracy, accountability, and being the person others rely on to get the details right, this opportunity was built for you! We can keep that as About the role. Job Summary: The first year in this role is dedicated primarily to construction payroll administration and workforce data management. As the Construction Payroll Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring union and non-union craft employees are paid accurately through timely field time entry, payroll support, prevailing wage administration, and labor data management across active construction projects. Working closely with field teams, Payroll, Project Controls, and Project Management, you will validate workforce data, reconcile payroll information, support labor compliance requirements, and ensure labor costs are accurately captured to support project success. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage high-volume payroll and workforce data in a fast-paced construction environment. As you develop within the role and build a strong understanding of our projects and operations, you'll have the opportunity to expand into broader project operations responsibilities and continue growing your career with Ballard Marine Construction. We could incorporate Job Summary into About the role or Responsibilities. But we have a Responsibilities section; maybe Job Summary can be part of About the role. However we need to preserve all substantive info; we can include Job Summary as a paragraph under About the role before responsibilities. Responsibilities: list bullet points. First year responsibilities: - Entering and maintaining accurate field employee time records - Processing high-volume payroll-related data - Supporting weekly payroll activities for union and non-union craft employees - Supporting Prevailing Wage/Davis-Bacon administration by reviewing labor classifications and pay requirements - Reviewing weekly payroll edit listings and control reports for accuracy - Reconciling payroll and workforce data - Entering and maintaining equipment job cost information - Maintaining project payroll documentation and supporting year-end audits - Managing the Daily inbox and responding to payroll-related requests After establishing foundation: - Project setup and maintenance - Davis-Bacon/Prevailing Wage project setup - Purchase Order entry and tracking - Contract, subcontract, and budget change orders - Subcontract setup and documentation - Workflow routing and coding - Project billing support - Accounts receivable support - Field reporting and forecasting - Vendor and subcontractor onboarding - Project documentation management - Labor compliance support - General project administrative support We'll combine into one list maybe with subheadings? But we can just list all. Requirements: Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Driver’s License; Experience (Required): 2+ years of payroll, timekeeping, workforce administration, or related administrative experience; Experience processing employee timekeeping and payroll; Union and non-union payroll experience; Prevailing Wage / Davis-Bacon experience; Exceptional attention to detail with high-volume data entry; Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel. We could also include "Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel" as skill but it's also a requirement. We'll keep in Requirements. Qualifications (Core Attributes): Grit and Resiliency; Comradery and Inspirational; Driven and Competitive; Trustworthy and Respectful; Ownership and Accountability. We'll list as bullet points. Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills; Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Self-motivated with the ability to work independently; Ability to build strong working relationships with field personnel and project teams; High level of accuracy and accountability; Ability to build strong working relationships with field personnel, project teams, and internal stakeholders (note duplicate). We'll deduplicate: Self-motivated with ability to work independently (once); Ability to build strong working relationships with field personnel, project teams, and internal stakeholders (covers field personnel and project teams). Also maybe "Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment". Also "Excellent verbal and written communication skills". Also "High level of accuracy and accountability". Also "Strong organizational and time management skills". Also maybe "Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines". We'll include. Physical Demands Working Environment: General office environment; Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer; Must be able to lift 20 pounds at a time. This could be part of Responsibilities or a separate section? Not in given headings; we could fold into Responsibilities or About the role. Probably include as a paragraph under Responsibilities or a separate "Working Conditions" but not in headings list. Since not in allowed headings, we can incorporate into Responsibilities as a note. Benefits: Ballard offers a comprehensive benefits package and provides a culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotion. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD, STD, PTO, 401K Plan with employer match, paid holidays, and so much more!! Pay: Salary Range: $22 - $28/hr Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications. We'll not include Schedule. Now produce HTML. We need to wrap each section:

Heading

then content: either

for prose,

  • for lists. We must not include any extra markup like or . Just fragment. Let's craft. First, maybe a short p for location and ID? We can drop ID. Location we can include in a p:

    Location: Neenah, WI

. That's minor metadata. Now About the role: we need to include the company description and why join etc. We'll put as

    ...

possibly multiple paragraphs but we can combine into one

with line breaks? Better to keep as

for each paragraph. But we can just put all in one

    with sentences. We'll do:
