About the role
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is a dynamic, employee-owned consulting firm of more than 400 employees providing a full range of multi-disciplined engineering, scientific, and allied services throughout the USA. The Springfield Rail Relocation project is a marquee construction project in Central Illinois where Hanson is the engineering design firm and provides construction observation services.
Responsibilities
- Representing owner in monitoring construction activities; oftentimes monitoring several work aspects occurring at the same time
- Documentation of contract quantities of construction materials per IDOT procedures
- Coordination of survey work and materials testing
- Representing owner in monitoring construction activities
- Assisting with progress meetings
- Absorbing and adjusting to contract problems, timely completion of contract documentation, and ability to adjust or changes within established policies
- Interpreting plans and specifications
Qualifications
- Must be able to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task and oversee multiple, concurrent work activities
- Must be self-motivated
- Must possess good interpersonal communication skills
Skills
- Construction observation experience
- Experience working on Illinois Department of Transportation roadway and railway construction projects
- Current IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification
- Construction Materials Management System (CMMS) training

Pay
- Tech III range: $31 - $33 per hour
- Tech IV range (minimum 6 years of experience): $33.40 - $37.10 per hour
- Tech V range (minimum 8 years of experience): $35 - $42 per hour
