Construction Observer Consultant, Infrastructure

About the role

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is a dynamic, employee-owned consulting firm of more than 400 employees providing a full range of multi-disciplined engineering, scientific, and allied services throughout the USA. The Springfield Rail Relocation project is a marquee construction project in Central Illinois where Hanson is the engineering design firm and provides construction observation services.

Responsibilities

• Representing owner in monitoring construction activities; oftentimes monitoring several work aspects occurring at the same time
• Documentation of contract quantities of construction materials per IDOT procedures
• Coordination of survey work and materials testing
• Representing owner in monitoring construction activities
• Assisting with progress meetings
• Absorbing and adjusting to contract problems, timely completion of contract documentation, and ability to adjust or changes within established policies
• Interpreting plans and specifications

Qualifications

• Must be able to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills
• Must have the ability to multi-task and oversee multiple, concurrent work activities
• Must be self-motivated
• Must possess good interpersonal communication skills

Skills

• Construction observation experience
• Experience working on Illinois Department of Transportation roadway and railway construction projects
• Current IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification
• Construction Materials Management System (CMMS) training

Pay

• Tech III range: $31 - $33 per hour
• Tech IV range (minimum 6 years of experience): $33.40 - $37.10 per hour
• Tech V range (minimum 8 years of experience): $35 - $42 per hour
