Construction Materials Testing Technician-Orange TX
About the role
Certerra/Insight Group has an immediate opening for a full-time Field (level 1) Construction Materials Testing (CMT) technician in Orange, Texas. The position is best suited for someone interested in working in a fast-paced consultant environment, does not mind some travel, and capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities
- Field and laboratory testing of construction materials
- Maintaining required certifications
- Coordinating with clients and Certerra/Insight Group engineering and professional staff
- Travel to client facilities as needed
- Report writing and computer skills
- Provides clear documentation of findings and results
- Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager
- Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM
- Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks
- Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration
- Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
Qualifications
- A strong safety focus and attention to detail
- Excellent plan reading skills
- A demonstrated math and technical aptitude
- Ability to pass an extensive background and drug screen
- Flexibility to work extended or non-traditional hours as needed
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
- State DOT certifications, and/or NICET certifications
- ICC Concrete and Soils Certifications preferred or must be willing to get within 1 year
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification - must be willing to get within 1 year
- 2-5+ years of construction materials testing experience (preferred)
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking as needed during safety inspections and training sessions.
The ability to lift 50-75 pounds
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
