Responsibilities
- Observes, measures, and performs testing on soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials on construction related project.
- Prepares detailed and complete daily field reports with all relevant test results, measurements and observations provided.
- Performs basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepares reports of results.
- Evaluates site soil conditions on construction projects and provides recommendations.
- Communicates with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues.
- Verifies conformance of projects with approved construction documents.
- Communicates in an effective and professional manner with project managers, contractors, and owner/owner’s representatives throughout project.
- Performs maintenance and calibrates / verifies status of laboratory testing equipment.
- Compiles, analyzes, computes, edits and processes lab data and accurately perform various tests in accordance with applicable standards.
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures outlined by PEA Group.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent highly preferred.
- Techician Certifications such as American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certification, ICC or MCA are preferred but not mandatory.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work with computers and mobile technologies to create and submit reports.
- Knowledge And Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience performing field or laboratory testing. General knowledge of math and science. Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel.

- Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.

- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well on a team.
- Positive attitude and desire to learn.
Physical Demands
- Fieldwork involves working outdoors in all types of weather, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods while measurements are taken.
- Sometimes requires working in confined spaces or climbing and working at above average heights.
- While performing these duties, an employee is frequently required to stoop; kneel; sit; talk; hear; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The position lifts heavy objects; the employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
- The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
Availability
- This is a full-time position.
- Days of work are Monday through Friday and shifts are 8 or 10 hours with the start time varying from 7 a.m. or 8 a.m., overtime and weekends as required.
Travel
- As a part of performing this position’s duties, travel will be required to respective job sites in the Southeast Michigan area and potential for select projects throughout the United States.
