About the Role

We are hiring a CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Technician to perform testing of various construction materials on active construction sites to verify compliance with project documents.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the firm insurance carrier

Preferred Certifications/Licenses:

  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I Certification
  • National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET) CMT Level I or higher (soils or concrete)
  • International Code Council (ICC) Soils Certification
  • NCDOT Certifications (e.g., QMS Roadway Technician conventional density, ABC/borrow pit sampling)

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or within team environments

Responsibilities

  • Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing:
    • Monitoring for proper placement techniques
    • Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature
    • Molding of compressive strength specimens
    • Core drilling
  • Asphalt:
    • Establishing test locations
    • Checking load temperature
    • Verifying property laydown and rolling practices
    • Core drilling for density/thickness specimen
  • Soil/Aggregate testing:
    • Testing density/compaction
    • Observing proofrolling
    • Verifying proper moisture content
    • Checking bearing capacity for foundation support
    • Excavation quantification
