Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician (Experienced)

About the role

Braun Intertec is seeking experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians for its Rochester, MN office. Technicians perform testing on soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt for industrial, commercial, and transportation projects throughout the region. The position includes in‑depth technical training, industry certifications, and the opportunity to join a fast‑paced, 100 % employee‑owned company with a growing project backlog.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
• Conduct field concrete testing, including slump, air content, and temperature measurements.
• Execute field density tests of soils.
• Prepare daily reports and documentation of field activities in electronic format.
• Collaborate with project managers and senior technicians or staff to ensure specifications are followed.
• Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff, as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong safety focus and attention to detail.
• Excellent plan‑reading skills.
• Demonstrated math and technical aptitude.
• Flexibility to work extended or non‑traditional hours as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• State DOT certifications, ICC and/or NICET certifications.
• 1 + years of construction materials testing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 75 + pounds.
• ACI Concrete Field‑Testing Certification.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; work on uneven terrain, varying heights, confined spaces, or supported trenches.

Pay

Compensation range: $50,000 – $74,000 per year.
