Construction Materials Technician
About the role
Legacy Engineering, P.C., is a small, woman-owned civil engineering firm specializing in land development design, geotechnical services, construction materials testing and inspections along with surveying and consulting. We are headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia and proudly serve clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Travel to construction sites in the Fredericksburg region to perform field testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials
- Work alongside contractors, engineers, and inspectors on active construction projects
- Perform basic field tests using specialized equipment and industry procedures
- Document test results and site observations using a tablet or field reports
- Communicate with project managers and field supervisors regarding testing needs or site conditions
- Maintain and properly use testing equipment while following safety standards
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- An interest in construction, engineering, or field work
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- The ability to lift up to 85 pounds and remain active throughout the workday
- A strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- A valid driver's license with reliable transportation

Pay
Compensation for this position is $18 to $23/Hourly, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.
Schedule
Hours and schedule are flexible to accommodate the needs of the construction sites and the individual's availability.
