Who We Are Looking For

Experience 10 or more years of combined education and/or experience in construction project management, rail, and/or bridge inspections. Extensive construction experience with railways, including functional leadership of project or task teams for a contractor, owner, developer, or designer. Evidence of progressive career development.

Education/Knowledge

  • High school, some technical school.
  • Associates degree or higher strongly preferred.
  • Construction methods and practices, principles of construction management and project controls.
  • Working knowledge in areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and construction techniques.
  • Personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business development.

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation or ability to obtain within six months of hire or promotion.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinating and tracking multiple project activities on multiple projects concurrently, and determining staffing requirements for projects to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Acting as overall liaison between the Owner and General Contractors on specialized, multi-disciplined construction projects, including job site construction inspection.
  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and managing multi-disciplinary work efforts.
  • Overseeing validation of products and materials ordered for projects to verify their conformance to specifications.
  • Monitoring and assessing construction performance and recording construction activities to ensure compliance with construction documentation requirements.
  • Inspecting work in progress, to ensure that methods, materials, and equipment conform to approved standards.
  • Maintaining project documentation through review of Construction Inspectors' daily status reports; charting progress of contract schedules via regularly scheduled meetings; reviewing and ensuring utilization of shop drawing submittals; processing and ensuring incorporation of RFIs; reviewing contractor change orders and making recommendations for changes; and incorporating change orders into project record.
  • Facilitating regularly scheduled construction meetings. Providing agendas and meeting minutes before and after meetings.
  • Assisting in training and providing technical expertise and guidance to Construction Inspectors and other team members.
  • Reviewing punchlists submitted by others and verifying that items on the punchlist have been completed and corrected prior to recommending substantial completion to the Owner.
  • Maintaining a perspective overview regarding federal, state, and local laws regulating construction procedures, safety practices, and working conditions.
  • Working closely with the Area Safety Officer to facilitate the highest level of safety in and around the work site.
  • Providing customer service and good etiquette to adjacent property owners and other project stakeholders.
  • Performing various administrative duties to include but not limited to daily timesheet.
  • Maintaining certifications and re-certifications.
  • Actively participating in company activities, including but not limited to Area and company meetings.

Status

The base salary range for this position is $107,000.00 to $154,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
